Our Rail Signalling and Communication systems are used on metro lines across major cities, and 72,000 kms of route, 52,000 trains per day in 16 countries are controlled by our Traffic Management Systems. Together We deployed the first-ever nationwide ticketing system which processes over 50 million ticketing transactions in 100 cities daily.

In Austria customers in rail transportation, air traffic, cybersecurity and defence missions rely on Thales. Additionally, our expertise in signalling gives people and goods in Central and Eastern European markets, like Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Macedonia, Croatia, Serbia and Albania, the connected journey they deserve. To support our team in Vienna, we are looking for Junior and Senior :

Solution Architects for Train Control System (ETCS) (f/m)

Your tasks & responsibilities

  • Formalize the specification and the architectural design to develop the solution or product
  • Ensure that architecture stability is maintained across lifecycle phases from Bid to Delivery
  • Approve the technical, technological, and methodological choices taken in respect of the selected architecture
  • Guarantee adherence to in-scope standards, reuse policy and product development plans; Identify modelling, simulation and prototyping opportunities
  • Coordinate product definition, and assessment of trade-offs between aspects of cost, customer requirements and technological possibilities
  • Prepare Design & Justification Files
  • Provide knowledge on state-of-the-art architecting, taking account of future developments
  • Check together with the project managers that the solution is consistent with the project budget, technical risks & schedule

Your profile:

  • University degree in Railway Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields
  • Practical experience and applied knowledge with respect to architectural design. Railway domain knowledge including technical safety and security and also customer knowledge are beneficial
  • Good command of spoken and written English. German is an advantage.
  • Use solution oriented approach to interact with clients
  • Strong analytical, communicative and social skills
  • High self-initiative as well as organizational and coordinative competences
  • Ability to mobilise others through conviction and persuasion independently of the hierarchical context.

Note according to §9 Abs. 2 GlBG: The minimum basic salary is 41.706 Actual compensation depends on your education, qualifications and experience and generally includes overpayment.
