L’Activité Mondiale Systèmes de Transport Terrestre fournit des solutions de signalisation ferroviaire pour les grandes lignes et les transports urbains, des systèmes intégrés de communication et de supervision, des solutions billettiques et les services associés.

Thales fournit des systèmes de commande de trains par télécommunications (CBTC) et des systèmes d’enclenchement destinés au secteur des transports en commun sur voie ferrée à l'échelle mondiale. Le centre de compétences pour la signalisation ferroviaire urbaine est situé au centre-ville de Toronto. Nous sommes le plus grand bureau situé au Canada et nous disposons d’un service pour chaque étape du cycle de vie du développement logiciel (SDLC). Cela comprend le logiciel, le matériel, la conception des systèmes, la vérification et la validation, les opérations, etc. Les équipes de services partagés dans les domaines des finances, des ressources humaines et des technologies de l’information sont également situées sur ce site. Thales provides world-leading Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) and interlocking for mass rail transit applications globally. The Centre of Competence for Urban Rail Signalling is located right before you at mid-town Toronto. As the largest office in Canada, we house a department for every step of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)! This includes Software, Hardware, Systems Design, Verification & Validation, Operations, etc. The supporting corporate shared services teams in Finance, Human Resources and IT is also located at the office. Key Accountabilities:

  • To design new or revise existing products, equipment, and installations, utilizing processes based on established engineering principles, and by applying latest technological advancements and practices in hardware engineering to meet project requirements. 

  • Responsible for designs of varying difficulty and complexity depending on experience, and involving new technology and innovative approaches.

  • Self-starter with a strong ability for short term planning of all assigned tasks, providing completion estimates and identifying potential design risks.

  • Keeping track of progress on all assigned technical tasks, able to provide concise up to date status.

  • Intimate understanding of Chorus 2.0 requirements. Contribute to their improvements.

  • Depending on seniority, being a mentor to more junior members of the department.

  • Demonstrating a high degree of initiative, resourcefulness and breadth of knowledge beyond the primary discipline in solving problems.

  • Staying current with the technology of the discipline and aware of technologies of other disciplines.

  • Demonstrating a superior level of logical reasoning resulting in effective designs for products and processes.

  • Comprehensive system level knowledge of the product.

  • Interpreting, identifying, and documentation of requirements such that customer needs are met within the budget and schedule constraints.

  • To ensure both the safety and quality of hardware products while reducing the deployment cost of those products. To contribute to the heightened reuse of product hardware and contribute to improvements in hardware quality.

  • Preparing specifications for hardware components or devices.

  • Being proficient with the use of development tools.

  • Developing appropriate design architecture.

  • Locating and researching source information for design activities, extracting the pertinent data, and using it to provide recommendations.

  • Making timely decisions, both independently and with others, after a thorough evaluation of all relevant factors.

  • Presenting effective solutions to problems or inefficiencies in the department’s operation.

Key Requirements:

  • College, University Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical/Computer, or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years in HW Design Engineering for URS or Equivalent Industry

  • Expertise with Rolling stock interface design, integration, and troubleshooting, Mechanical Design for Transportation, Industry Design for Manufacturing of rugged equipment to be deployed in harsh conditions, Electrical Wiring Diagrams (OrCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD 2D/3D)

  • 10+ years of proven experience in designing, installation, integration, and troubleshooting SelTrac IS and MS on-board systems.

  • Working knowledge of Embedded Systems Architecture and Design, Schematic capture and circuit analysis, FPGA design , Micro-Controller design, Modelling in MATLAB or Equivalent, Scripting Languages, Mechanical design in AutoCAD, SolidWorks

  • Engineering Process and Design Methodologies

  • Professional Engineering Designation desirable

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, consulting and presentation skills
