Le centre de compétences pour la signalisation ferroviaire urbaine est situé au centre-ville de Toronto. Nous sommes le plus grand bureau situé au Canada et nous disposons d’un service pour chaque étape du cycle de vie du développement logiciel (SDLC). To perform system design, analysis, modelling and simulation to specify and verify train control systems. To develop and define system design features to meet customer requirements.To analyze and evaluate designs to verify compliance with System technical requirements.To develop and define ATC Subsystems requirements.To analyze and evaluate ATC system performance and prepare associated technical contract deliverables.

Reporting to the Project Systems Specialist, the incumbent is accountable for performing the design work correctly, within cost and schedule limits, as defined in approved work packages.  The work is typically defined by the Systems Engineer, then reviewed, modified and agreed with and approved by the Project Systems Specialist or the Manager.  The System Engineer typically works with a team of engineers to define what will be designed, how it will perform and how it will be determined that it is working correctly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Converts customer requirements into conceptual designs and prepares associated documentation by performing operational analyses, simulations and technical trade-off studies evaluating alternative design configurations and functional features
  • Similarly creates new concepts or modifies existing concepts to fulfil customer requirements
  • Prepares system and subsystem requirement specifications, interface requirements and test requirement documents by analysing, decomposing modelling and refining customer requirements and typical train control domain requirements
  • Prepares system operational plans and reports which explain how the equipment being developed meets customer requirements - operational design limits are evaluated and defined; performance analysis and simulations are developed and performed to support the process
  • Performs technical/engineering tasks to define system design and subsystem requirements details - analysis and simulations are performed as necessary to identify design feasibility and driving requirements
  • Prepares and supports preparation of design and development proposals based on knowledge of ATC technology, customer requirements and backed by analysis, simulation and trade-off of key design driving requirements
  • Presents technical design proposals and reports to customers and/or other engineering/management groups in clear, complete, concise and unambiguous terms
  • Defines or proposes updates of processes and standards covering the work and its products based on a knowledge of systems engineering and/or their technical specialty

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Systems Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of technical experience
  • Knowledge of the Train Control product line and its operating principles
  • Knowledge of signal processing theory and experience with the application of digital filtering and signal recognition techniques
  • Knowledge of railway signalling techniques
  • Knowledge of specification-driven systems design (as it applies to computer systems with both hardware and software operations)
  • Familiarity with military and automated train control systems specifications and standards
  • Familiarity with modern software development methodology tools and software specification
  • Proficient technical writing skills
  • Experience with DOORS, or equivalent, is desirable
  • Model based system engineering experience an asset
