Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship – Manufacturing Apprentice

What you’ll be doing
- The Role

As a manufacturing apprentice you will rotate through the manufacturing function, learning about the assembly and test of the products built in each of the workshops. You will become a valuable and integrated part of the team, being trained by other team members on electrical, electronic and mechanical assembly techniques. Each rotation will last from between 4 – 6 months depending on production requirements, but allowing for the skills to be obtained. Once competent, assessments will be carried out to sign off the skills on a level 3 NVQ or an apprenticeship standard. Subjects covered include Health & Safety, Documentation, Clean Rooms / Clean Working Area, Materials, Consumables, Tools, Assembly Techniques, Inspection and Test.

The Programme

Through our Level 3 apprenticeship you’ll be making the most of your talents, getting to understand engineering from the ground up; and doing so with the help of one of the biggest and best names in the industry.
As a manufacturing apprentice you will be working towards a Level 3 qualification in engineering. For the duration of this 3-4 year programme you will be given one day per week in which to complete your studies with a local college. For the other 4 days you will be working in the business, applying your learning and gaining a breadth of experience across the industry. At the end of the programme you will move into a permanent role within the engineering function.
This opportunity is in Templecombe, working within the defence business.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are motivated, committed and keen to learn. A self-starter who is able to manage their time, show initiative and has a genuine interest in Thales. Successful candidates will show self-discipline and an aspiration to build a career within the manufacturing function.

You will also need:

  • 5 GCSEs grade A-C including English and Maths
  • Right to Work in the UK for the duration of the 3 year programme
  • Please note that applicants who hold a relevant HNC, HND or degree will not be eligible for this programme.
