Mechanical Trainee

Job Description

Do you like to disassemble and rebuild mechanical components whilst dreaming of a career in the electronics field?  This sort after Traineeship will see you gaining highly desirable skills in complex Naval systems. These are unique skills that you will gain from our on the job training and mentoring are invaluable to your development as a qualified technician. You will assimilate all aspects of the position including providing repair, maintenance, overhaul and technical support whilst gaining experience and specialised knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the repairs, installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical/electrical equipment and systems in surface and sub surface Naval vessels
  • Perform fault analysis of commercial and military electrical/mechanical  weapons equipment and systems
  • Carry out repairs to electrical/mechanical systems
  • Assist in installation of all types of naval equipment in shore and ship borne environments
  • Successfully complete a 4 year Advanced Diploma of Electronics and Communication Engineering (Course UEE60211)

Key Skills & Experience

  • Trade qualified Fitter
  • Current Drivers Licence (or ability to obtain)
  • Demonstrated mechanical and/or technical aptitude
  • Well-developed communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment
  • A strong commitment towards maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment
  • Committed to complying with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Other related duties as assigned, which may include off-site work or projects outside the Sydney metropolitan area
  • A current NSW White Card (General Construction) is preferred
