Verification and Validation Engineer

Thales has been involved in Danish projects since 1973, and now due to the significance of the Group’s activities and the market outlooks in the country, Thales has since established a formal regional office in Copenhagen in January 2015. Thales has delivered the Danish Travelcard system and is in charge of its operation and maintenance for the next 10 years. Moreover, it is Thales’ hope to further enhance the system with the latest technologies, like mobile phone and account-based functionalities.

Verification and Validation Engineer

Do you want to be part of the integration of external interfaces into one of the largest and most unique projects in Denmark influencing millions of people? And would you like to have a significant role, where you can write one of the largest IT infrastructure projects in the Danish country on your CV?

We are implementing the newest European standard within signaling systems in the railway network in Jutland. Since 2012, Thales Denmark A/S has been working to upgrade the signaling system in Jutland to an IT-based signaling system in close cooperation with several parties among in a consortium with Strukton Rail. The project consists of an update of approx. 1,200 km of the Danish railway network for the new European ETCS Level 2 system. The project is in daily speech referred to as the F-bane Project, and is currently in the installing phase.

The Verification and Validation engineer will together with the rest of the Verification and Validation team be in charge of the preparation, the execution and the reporting of the Verification and Validation activities on the F-bane project.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • To verify and validate that the F-bane project is fulfilling the contractual and Thales internal requirements during the development, design and implementation of Thales – Strukton delivery to Banedanmark of the railway design for specific rollout lines in west Denmark.

  • Participate in performing verification and validation activities according to given instructions and checklist (Validation of signalling layouts, hardware configuration, drawings, templates, etc.).

  • Participate in verification and validation inspections in different project phases to ensure confidence in the verification activities performed, with main focus on test activities performed in Denmark and Germany.

  • Report and evaluate any non-compliance detected during the verification and validation activities and creation of verification and validation reports.

  • Liaise with the other internal teams, the customer, our partners and suppliers in order to optimize the processes.

Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to work in a team and support a strong team culture

  • Good communication skills

  • Proactive way of working

  • Railway experience will be an advantage


  • Knowledge of railway terms and infrastructure elements 

  • Capability to gain the required technical understanding of signaling systems and the engineering process 

  • Experience with Verification and Validation work preferably from the railway industry will be an advantage

  • Knowledge of Requirement Management, Configuration Management and Defect Management will be an advantage

  • Knowledge of System Engineering principles, will be an advantage

  • Knowledge of CENELEC standard 50126, 50128 (2011), 50129 will be an advantage


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Danish or German are considered a plus
