Thales’ Cloud Protection and Licensing division creates some of the worlds’ best and most innovative Identity and Data Protection solutions. The Inside Sales Engineer works closely with the regional Inside Sales and Renewals teams to provide technical expertise around our identity, data protection and encryption portfolio to both partners and prospective customers.
We are looking for someone enthusiastic and ambitious to join our Pre-Sales team to work with our Authentication, IAM, Encryption and Data Protection portfolio. In this position you’ll be working closely with the other members of the Pre-Sales team to help respond to Inside sales, Renewals, partner and customer enquiries. The job involves both soft skills and technical skills; so, you’ll be presenting and discussing our solutions, as well as responding to written enquiries such as RFIs and RFPs. Encryption and Cryptography underpin everything that we do and so the more you understand about that, the better. Any experience in the field of Smart Cards, Authentication/IAM, Hardware Security Modules and/or Key Management Solutions is a big benefit, but not mandatory. We’re happy to help you to get familiar with our products and provide you with all the knowledge that you need for your day to day work if needed.
You’ll help gather information on a customer’s use-case, application environment and data flows in order to fully understand their needs and be able to propose our solutions. You’ll need to spend time learning the key features, and we’d expect you to get hands-on with some of our offerings to better understand them.
Our products interface with hundreds of 3rd-party applications and solutions and you will undoubtedly come across many applications, integrations, features and APIs which aren’t familiar. This is both the excitement and the challenge of this position - the role suits someone who is keen to learn and interested in technology; the ability and desire to ‘learn something new’ will really help. The position has lots of room for growth as you develop skills and gain experience over time.
The position is based in the UK, ideally somewhere near Reading - but we can be flexible. The position is primarily focussed on helping support our Inside Sales team with their customer interactions, and so most of the interactions will be remote and via phone/webinar. Ideally you’d be mobile, as we’d like for you to spend a couple of days per week in the office with the team once things get back to normal.

• Experienced in a position involving customer engagement and team working within IT or a related field ie. IT Helpdesk
• Experience presenting to both business and technical personnel
• Experience authoring product-focused technical documents such as test reports, technical docs, RFIs, RFPs, etc.
• Technically hands-on with skills in problem solving, development and architecture design
• A desire to learn and develop within a Sales Engineering/Pre-Sales Role
• An appreciation of the concepts of Cryptography & Security; PKI, digital signatures, certificates, encryption, understanding of database concepts
• An awareness of virtualisation products and cloud service provider offerings such as VMWare, Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google, IBM Cloud, Docker or similar
In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years.
