We innovate across five major industries; Aerospace, Defence, Ground Transportation, Security and Space. As Product Supply Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing the contractual relationship with suppliers, following contact signature through to product delivery, encompassing contract execution, and ensuring the technical performance, planning and conformity of delivered products. Based at our Harwell site, this is a trans-national role working within the Supplier Operations organization across Thales Alenia Space (TAS) in the UK and the TAS Joint Venture (JV) organization.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

In the lead up to contract signature, you’ll contribute to Supplier selection, led by a multi-functional team, by providing feedback on the Suppliers’ performance, and current and forecast capacities in order to validate the reliability of the target planning and what is requested in the contract, and raise potential risks and opportunities.

After contract signature, the Product Supply Manager will:

  • Lead the relationship with suppliers throughout the execution of the contract for all matters related to the supplied products (technical, industrial, planning, quality, contractual), and negotiate changes for any specification, price or schedule contractual evolution
  • Implement necessary actions in order to early detect technical, quality or planning risks or issues which may impact programmes’ schedule or cost of non-quality, and mobilise all necessary means to ensure a quick and thorough treatment
  • Provide internal clients and central functions with regular technical and planning risk & opportunities, costs status and forecast information, using tools such as Oracle and SAP
  • Ensure the completion of the conformance (until end of use) verification process on the goods to be delivered, by managing and chairing regular formal reviews, and organising formal material acceptance milestones
  • At each formal step of the contract, ensure the completeness of the deliverables, achieve approval of the related data, and authorise the delivery of the goods within the related financial parameters (such as payments, penalties)

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

A demonstrable positive performance record in the following activities is required:

  • Managing supplier / customer relationships
  • End-to-end procurement activities in a large multi-site, multidisciplinary manufacturing, engineering or technical organization, with strong technical awareness
  • Project management in a supplier operations context, and industrial project reviews
  • Development / manufacture of the sub-contract / project experience
  • Advanced negotiation skills
  • Familiarity with, or willingness to learn contractual aspects/legal terms, and the analysis and interpretation of these

This role requires a flexible, accountable and “can do” approach to perform effectively in a fast changing business growth environment. Exceptional communication and influencing skills are essential to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, on a trans-national basis.

The position requires the ability to work in a multi-site capacity. There will be a main location but travel is required within the UK and overseas (mainly within Europe.)

A driver’s licence that is valid in the UK is a preferable requirement of this position.

Thales offer an exceptional compensation package including competitive salary and bonus, excellent pension scheme, private healthcare, 201 hours holiday, excellent maternity/paternity leave, plus other benefits.
