Software Developer in Test

Job Purpose:

To maintain the quality of our customer releases through development of test strategies and execution of this strategy using automated testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a team to deliver on iteration’s commitments
  • Develop and maintain a suite of automated tests to verify existing functionality, refining the tests as the functionality changes, monitoring results, resolving any issues related to the tests and the test bed.
  • Analyze defect reports to determine their scope and the course of action.
  • Generate and maintain documentation for the automated tests
  • Use source control tools to manage the test code
  • Partner with development and program management teams to estimate cost, plan, and deliver high quality features
  • Maintain Key Performance Indicators for test automation of features release over release and address the backlog of existing manual tests.
  • Participate in the development of product specific or cross-product test automation frameworks.
  • Participate in peer code review of automated test submissions
  • Prepare, present and discuss preliminary design approaches with team members.
  • Assist in the system administration of lab equipment.
  • Document bug reports for identified issues during testing. Detail clearly the procedure followed, narrow down the area affected and perform preliminary troubleshooting.
  • Mentor junior team members

Required Skills and Experience:

  • University Bachelor’s degree with specialization in Computer sciences, Engineering
  • Software development experience 2-3 years with Python
  • Software development experience 1-3 years with Java
  • Software development experience 1-3 years with C++
  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks such as JUNIT, PyTest and expect
  • Experience with deployment tools such as Jenkins, Docker, JIRA.
  • Experience testing Web GUI, CLI, API and Database based applications as part of an Agile team.
  • Experience administering Linux/Unix servers.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with various platforms (including Windows, Linux, Solaris, HP-UX and AIX) and 3rd party applications (such as Entrust, CMS, IIS, Microsoft Cert Services, iWS Apache) are considered assets.
  • Expertise with Docker containers and virtualization
  • Expertise in cybersecurity and cryptography
