Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Thales Canada - Defence & Security (TCDS) VP Land Programs, the Director of Strategy and Capture will be responsible for developing the cross business line Land business strategy and will assume the leadership of captures critical to the success of the business. The Director of Strategy and Capture will also be responsible to the Head of Capture and Bids for the execution to Capture Lead responsibilities per the Thales CHORUS Manage Bid process.
Key Job Functions:
- Establish and maintain cross Global Business Unit and Business Line relationships with Strategy, Sales and Product Line stakeholders to effectively position Thales solutions consistent with the go to market strategy. This is to be coordinated with relevant TCDS enabler including Business Development and Offsets.
- Coordinate the development, approval and execution of the Land Strategy to positon Thales solutions against market opportunities. Internal coordination includes Country, Regional and BL level stakeholders to ensure the early identification and alignment of domestic sales opportunities.
- Conduct senior customer stakeholder engagements to enable the successful execution of the Land business strategy.
- Responsible for leading and successfully securing Key or Must Win captures for the Defence & Security business. Captures of such nature will be of Bid level 2 (B2-high value/complexity) or Critical Project (CP) categorization/anticipated contract values in the region of $10M-$200M per the Thales Main Rules for Bids Organization & Approval.
- Responsible to negotiate strategic industrial agreements in support of key captures
- Responsible to manage the Land Bid and Proposal budget based on approved capture mandates
- Coordinate resource allocations to key captures with the Head of Bids & Captures
- Lead Capture deliverables, such as Capture Plans, Price to Win Analysis, Gate Presentations
- Communicate with and manage the customer and potential suppliers/subcontractors
- Perform regular reviews with TCDS Management, Country and GBU Stakeholders
- Liaise with lobbyists in developing lobbying/political strategic actions
- Liaise with Communications group to develop and align messaging
- Develop and implement industrial plan and value proposition for the capture
- Remain current on emerging and relevant C4ISR technology and product trends
Key Skill Requirements:
- All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada and meet Controlled Goods Clearance requirements and Canadian security clearance; a minimum of 5 years continuous residence in Canada and a police background check are mandatory.
- Engineering or Commerce (Business) university degree preferred
- Proven experience in successful supervision and execution of complex bids and proposals
- Industry knowledge in Defence sector is essential
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and prioritize requests
- Skilled communicator, both in writing and speaking
- Ability to work on a team, responsible, quality oriented and able to meet deadlines, aptitude for clear and concise thinking, flexible and able to adapt to change
