About Your Role

Thales has been supporting the Australian Defence Force with Small Arms for over 100 years and is now working to deliver them the Next Generation of Close Combat Family of Weapons integrated with other supporting soldier systems. We have built up a team passionate about developing products to equip soldiers with transformational capabilities for the challenges of the modern battlefield and we’re now looking for like-minded, engineers and technical staff to join us in this important task. The Chief of Army summarised this last year when he recognised this by confirming that what we do is “ fundamental to assuring Army’s competitive capability edge into the future”.

Our Integrated Weapons and Sensor business is currently seeking an experienced Part Time (20 hours per week) Configuration Management Assistant to be based at our Lithgow Site. This role will focus on the new soldier weapons and sensors digital product line.  Providing support to both the configuration management controller as well as the product line configuration manager, you will be responsible for the recording and releasing of configuration & technical data.

This is a great opportunity for 2021 which will provide you the opportunity to work with a wide range of cutting-edge technologies in a project that supports the Australian Defence Force.

  • To support the maintenance and the integrity of the definition, recording and traceability of configuration data
  • To support the provision of data to enable the verification of internal and external configuration documentation
  • To assist in the filing, storage and distribution of stored data to required parties
  • To archive data as directed by the configuration management controller
  • To assist with the maintenance of configuration baselines and identify gaps or omissions
  • To perform tasks within the CM Tools as directed

How About You?

  • Previous experience within a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience in a variety of IT tools (including MS Office)
  • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management System and/or Configuration Management Process skills would be highly regarded

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
