About us

The “Electrical Power Systems & Harness Engineering” unit belongs to the “Avionics & Electrical

Engineering” department in the Competence Center Platform and Integration – Italy. We are responsible of the Harness and Electrical Power Subsystem architecture leading relevant engineering  activities in the whole lifecycle of projects and/or products, from initial conceiving and feasibility studies, bids and proposal preparation, design and implementation, up to launch, LEOP and in orbit operations and maintenance.

Main responsibilities are:

  • Definition of the Harness and Electrical Power subsystem architecture
  • Requirement analysis, flow down and subsystem architectures trade-off
  • Electrical power and harness analysis and performance verification
  • Customer and Subco’s technical follow-up
  • Electrical Power Subsystem and Harness IVVQ at spacecraft level
  • Electrical Power Subsystem and Harness support to S/C AIT tests and launch campaign
  • Control account, schedule and risks management
  • Participation to bids for solution identification and costing definition
  • Afford related R&D activities

For this department we are looking for: Electrical performance analyst of inclined LEO applications

About the job

In this role You will be in charge of

the performance evaluation for specific product lines on LEO platfoms, with their variants and relevant project declinations, covering the following main tasks :

  • Assess and analyze mission Operational Requirement Documents, ORD.
  • Interface main peers, (i.e. AEL Arch, Sys E2E , Avionics, Payloads..)
  • Implement Electrical architectures
  • Assess electrical I/F resources, sizing and budgets
  • Implement Power architecture in simulation environments
  • Assess energy balance, resources sizing and justification
  • Able to perform System and S/S IVVQ
  • Support AIV across Product Life cycles
  • Support OPS team for SVTs, FOP, LEOP sims, LEOP and commissioning

This request is for a permanent position.

The working sites are Rome and/or L’Aquila, but it might be required working in other locations for short mid-term periods (e.g. subcontractors technical follow-up, attendance to external test facilities or counseling / support in customer premises)

Short periods of 24h shift working across the full week might be required upon specific program needs (e.g., AIT or LEOP schedule).

About You

Education and experience

You have a Master Degree in Electronic, Electrical or Telecommunication Engineering.

You are fluent in English (C1 and above certification) both listening and reading.

Skills and knowledge

You have a demonstrable knowledge of:

  • System requirements analysis, flow down and verification
  • Electrical and power design and sizing
  • Definition and management of design documentation: specifications, performance analysis, interfaces, budgets, validation. 
  • Analysis, simulation a validation of supply systems and equipment for mission scenario fulfilment
  • Support to satellite test campaign during AIT, launch and in-orbit phases for power sim predictions
  • Basis of Electromagnetics
  • RLC filters and circuit theory
  • Power conditioning systems such as Shunt (S2R, S3R, S4R) and MPPT (Buck, Boost)
  • Matlab / Simulink programming
  • Orchestra Suite (PV:: & Doors at least)
  • (Electrical engineering standards is considered a plus)
  • ECSS-E-ST-20C, ECSS-E-ST-20-08C, ECSS-E-ST-50-12C, ECSS-E-ST-50-14C, MIL-STD- 1553-B
