Senior Software Integration Engineer

We are currently looking for a Senior Software Integration Engineer to join Thales in Irvine, CA. As a member of our Software Development and Integration Team, the Senior Software Integration Engineer must quickly become familiar with system requirements and system behaviors, modify/ develop software, and write and execute performance test plans. The Senior Software Engineer must also troubleshoot hardware, network, and software issues. The Senior Software Engineer is required to frequently interact with other groups within the Engineering department in support of a multitude of software development operations, including fellow software development teams, software architects and integration/validation teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Develop Android framework services and C++/Java on server side Linux based systems [30%]
  • Define and execute various system and software performance test plans [25%]
  • Develop internal tools or use industry tools to capture and analyze system performance metrics  [25%]
  • Analyze root causes of highly complex hardware, software, or network Issues [10%]
  • Participate in agile ceremonies (daily stand up meetings, sprint retrospectives and sprint planning meetings)  [5%]
  • Create reports and lead presentations to management and stakeholders [5%]
  • Participate in technical discussions
  • Collaborate with multiple teams (i.e. development, integration and test teams, customer teams)  to ensure quality and on-time delivery
  • Work with ambiguous details

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field with 3-5+ years’ experience, or Master’s degree in field with 2+ years’ experience
  • 3 to 5 years of knowledge/experience in Linux, Networking, and Scripting
  • 3 to 5 years of Java or C++
  • Experience with test principles, including functional testing, performance testing, stress testing, endurance testing, recovery testing, ad hoc testing, etc.
  • Experience performing troubleshooting on software & hardware
  • Experience with networking, TCP/IP, VLAN

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated, critical thinker with strong technical background
  • Additional key competencies include decision-making, planning and organizing, problem analysis and problem solving, , teamwork and adaptability
  • Ability to make decisions, solve complex problems and work  independently
  • Development or testing experience with Bluetooth and/or Wifi devices
  • 3-5+ years’ experience in In Flight Entertainment Systems
  • Experience working in an AGILE/Scrum  Environment
  • Knowledge of Agile and common tools (JIRA, Confluence, Git, Bitbucket)
