Electronics System Engineer

Thales Belgium SA, Belgium competence center of Thales, is a company located on 2 sites, one in Tubize (near Brussels) and the other one in Herstal (near Liège). Thales Belgium, which employs more than 230 collaborators, is specialized in the design, development and supply of critical information systems for customers in the sectors of Defense, Security (including Cyber), Transport and Aerospace.

We are currently recruiting a (m/f) Electronics System Engineer for our Herstal Site.

Electronic Design engineer

Within a project / product team, you will be required, in the context of on firing systems or smart ammunitions, to specify, design, develop and validate and test electronic boards.


  • Based on upper system specifications, allocate performances

  • Write low level hardware -specifcations and perform system studies

  • Design analog and/or digital electronic circuits, write schematics

  • Specify, develop and validate FPGA using VHDL

  • In collaboration with System Architect and mechanical design team, Give guidelines and work together with the layout team to design the PCB

  • Use of simulation softwares to validate circuits

  • Write Reports, Design justifications and various descriptive documents

  • Participate to prototypes definition, design and tests using laboratory tools (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, remote controlled systems) and EMC tests

  • Perform the design robustness analyses (Margins analysis, Failure Mode analysis, …)

  • Collaborate with software team to write low level software

  • Develop the documentation necessary for product industrialization

  • Collaborate with the purchase department to manufacture the different boards

  • Write Test specifications

  • Support test technicians

  • Analyze and interpret test results

  • Participate to internal project reviews within the company, and external reviews with the customers


Master in Electronics Engineering with 5-10 years of experience

Required knowledge of :

Discrete electronic (analog/digital) design

English (spoken and written)

Assets :

Proven experience in development of low level C software

Proven experience in development of FPGA using VHDL

Knowledge of PCB manufacturing process and assembly process

Communication systems (CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, 1553, ARINC429 …)

Experience on EMC aspects

Knowledge of scripting tools or higher level software (Python, Matlab)

French (spoken and written)

Good experience in an electronic lab environment

Electrical motors driving
