Quality Assurance Manager

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Manager (QAM) who will support the quality assurance of the MKS180 project in relation to the different subcontractors. Our Quality team is responsible for managing the management system, assuring the quality of operational activities (bids, projects and products) and supporting the maturity and performance of the organisation with the aim of improving customer satisfaction and driving competitiveness. Our department enhances the accountability of operational teams for the quality of their output,  strengthens the learning, improvement and problem solving capabilities and develops the maturity of the organisation by leveraging operational best practices. We have a responsibility to increase transparency, when it comes to operational performance and reports independently to senior business management.

About the job

You will contribute to bids and projects through assuring the quality thereof and coaching/supporting the relevant operational teams in execution of their tasks in line with relevant processes/governance, risk and opportunity management and problem solving. In doing so, you always keep in mind the perspective of the customer and ensure that the solution meets his/her technical and non-technical requirements and expectations. As QAM, you have an independent role and will report to both bid/project and senior management on the operational performance of the teams your are involved in.

Your primary focus will be to ensure the Quality Assurance of the different subcontractors within the MK180 project. You will be involved with multiple internal stakeholders (the product organisation, engineering department, project management etc.) as well as external stakeholders (the customer incl. Government Quality Assurance Representatives – GQAR -, suppliers and subcontractors etc.). You will work closely with the project and product managers, supporting them in realizing the delivery to the customer in terms of time, budget and quality.

The total scope of your portfolio depends on the demand from the organisation and the allocation of resources within the QA team, thereby aiming for both continuity and multi employability as well as the personal development of the QAM’s. The QA team is organized along the product segments of Naval-NL, with a dedicated QA team per segment (mission solutions and Combat Management Systems – CMS -, radar, fire control, aerospace, services). As a senior QAM, you are also expected to coach and support less experience QA colleagues with the aim of growing the maturity of the team.

In addition to the above, you may be involved in (transverse) problem solving and Root Cause Analysis (RCA), audits, assessments and other improvement initiatives. Training in QCS tools and practices will explicitly be part of your onboarding program and personal development.

About you

  • A relevant (technical) degree, such as computer science, engineering, business management.
  • Profound interest and professional experience in high-tech systems, processes, quality, and the defense domain, and preferably experience with the German customer.
  • Professional proficiency of the German language
  • An analytical thinker with an open and curious mind and excellent communication and writing skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, complex and multi-national environment wherein you manage/influence various stakeholders, create (quality) awareness and challenge the status quo.
  • QA experience with large size projects in a multi-entity environment

What's in it for you

  • Become part of a great team in a high tech, innovative international organization
  • This job provides you with the opportunity to broaden your professional development. In three to five years, you will gain thorough knowledge of our Naval domain and products, our organisation and our processes. You will strengthen your leadership skills, risk management, problem solving and improvement skills, and quickly expand your network. This job can serve as a stepping stone towards a (more senior) position within any one of our operational or staff departments.
  • A great workplace in a modern building, where we value a good work-life balance and flexibility
  • 40 leave days per year, travel expenses and a flexible benefits à la carte package with options like purchase/sale of leave hours, internet costs, bicycle plan, company fitness, trade union contribution or relocation costs
