About Our Site

Our Darwin team provide repair, maintenance and in-service support for the fleet of Armidale Class Patrol Boats. We have multiple locations across Darwin to accommodate our growing diverse team of 95 employees. Our project office is based in the CBD which is in walking distance to public transport, restaurants, schools and offsite parking. Our Opportunity

Reporting to the Quality and HSE Manager, this challenging role will see you playing a key role in ensuring quality  and safety  through oversight of shipboard activities and evaluation of the competency of personnel engaged under Thales direction. This includes verification of safety activities (isolations, JSEA’s, PPE, tagging, capability of technicians) and conformance to the requirements of the task.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to patrol boat repair and site activities by driving implementation of Quality plans, programs and strategies
  • Analyse Customer and Thales Quality requirements, review  and implement the Quality Plan
  • Active participation in continuous improvement initiatives such as LEAN
  • Active participation in verification (audit) activity as defined in the yearly programme
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System
  • Establish and maintain a close relationship with project managers, Navy and project teams to ensure understanding of quality management objectives and expectations

About You

  • Qualifications in engineering, related technical discipline or qualified trades person with maritime experience
  • Auditor Qualifications (formal training) or relevant industrial experience
  • Practical experience in process, product or software quality assurance/control and verification activities in a technology/services environment,
  • Influencing skills including the ability to promote continuous improvements in QA processes at all levels and across all areas of the organisation,
  • Formal qualification in WHS, additional qualifications in related disciplines will be viewed favourably
  • Knowledge and experience in HSEQ Management Systems, Procedures and Legislation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders
  • You will have a keen eye for detail and the ability to resolve highly complex problems
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance Management

Special Requirements

It is essential that you are an Australian Citizen to be eligible for a Defence Security Clearance and to access information covered by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
