Software Engineer

Location: Crawley

The Team

You will be joining a diverse and agile team of Engineering specialists dedicated to a growing portfolio within the Surface Ship domain. Crawley based, you will be collaborating with a wider community of specialists across our UK sites and internationally. This is an organically growing team which prides itself on collaboration, support and development from within, fostering excellent prospects for learning and future development, steered by your own personal ambitions.  Members of the team are encouraged to engage in continuous professional development, suggest process improvements and play a pivotal part to the continued success and introduction of new technologies and ways of working.

The Role:

As a Software Engineer, you will be involved in all aspects of the software development lifecycle as projects develop and new ones come on line. We have several positions available of which one of them we are looking for an individual support with the coordination, development and knowledge share in the team; this would ideally suit an individual who possesses leadership qualities with amibitions to develop their software engineering management skills. You will collaborate across teams, sites, disciplines and develop and delivery on commitments. You will contribute as a member of a self-organising team which are introducing new tools and technology so you will play an incremental role to the improvement of processes and practices.

About you:

We are looking for proactive and positive Software Engineering professionals with knowledge of an object oriented language; Java would be preferable as that is the primary tool but this is not essential if you have worked with other languages. You will possess experience of using Linux and familiarity with agile methodologies would be useful. As we have several positions available, we would be keen to hear from all levels of software engineering professionals interested and enthusiastic about innovation and working in a team environment.

This is a Crawley based position due to network access and you will need to hold or be eligible to secure SC Clearance.
