PROJECT CONTROLLER

Based in Crawley (mixed with home working and travelling to another site in Bristol)

What the role has to offer:

  • Management of the Project Baseline using Primavera, including the assimilation of data from partner organisations to ensure an accurate representation of project status.

  • Management of the Risk Register and the supporting artefacts, to capture and maintain the Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies and Opportunities.

Our Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Controller for our AVS (Avionics) business unit in Thales UK.

The Project Controller is the right arm of a Project Manager, providing accurate resource, cost and scheduling information to enable the Project Management team to make effective decisions. You will have the collaborative opportunity to work directly with Project Managers or Directors, and to interact with a range of functions such as, engineering, procurement, services, finance, and commercial.  

The role requires someone with a confident, professional background across Project Controls/ Project Management, who can help support the business as it grows and evolves. 

We are looking for a talented individual who can create and maintain integrated master schedules for relatively complex and longer term projects. You will lead on the production of the project reports and facilitate reviews in accordance with a defined calendar for assigned projects. This will also include the ownership of the Risk Management Plan and Risk Register.

The successful individual will ensure governance, reporting, variance analysis, deployment and reporting of Risk & Opportunity Management on assigned projects. They will manage Baseline Change Control, Earned Value, and they will collect and monitor the use of ‘lessons learned’ as part of a continuous improvement culture.

They will be responsible for the management of the Risk Register and the supporting artefacts, to capture and maintain the project Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies and Opportunities throughout the life of the contract. This includes achieving endorsement from the customer. As the focal point for all risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies and opportunities they are accountable for recording, tracking, expediting, mitigating and closure of all RAIDO related items. Through the application of risk culture and formalised working groups they will extract and manage the relevant project data ensuring that all systems and processes deployed are optimised to interface with the customer.

For this element we would desire the approved candidate to have APM Risk Level 2 (Practitioner) or equivalent.

Please note that due to the sensitivity of the project that this role is only available to UK nationals and is subject to the award of a prospective contract.

About You

You will multi-task and prioritise without the requirement for regular direct supervision, and you’ll have the ability to establish and meet deadlines. You will possess the ability to analyse, interpret, present complex information, and produce a variety of reports.

You will be able to take a calm, logical approach when reacting to the challenges we face, have a keen eye for details and advanced organisational skills. Forming strong relationships with your stakeholders quickly will be a key requirement of this role.

With experience in Project Controls or Project Management context, your extensive experience as a user of planning and scheduling will have covered fast paced and complex environments and will have equipped you with an awareness of EVM and Schedule Risk Analysis.

Having Primavera P6 Software knowledge (or similar scheduling tool) is a must, and having an initial PM qualification could be a plus.
