Linux DevOps Engineer

Linux DevOps Engineer
Short task description
Participate in the transformation project for migrating products towards newer and modern Linux distributions. Configure and integrate CI/CD tools (ex: software static and dynamic analysis tools, coverage measuring tools, etc.) into the build and deploy process. Participate in improvement projects with the focus of increasing the quality and efficiency of the whole development process. Adapt the workflow and pipelines used in the development and test of railway interlocking systems.
Job responsibilities include:
Adaptation of Linux installations for customer requirements and hardware components;
Support of migrations of Thales product lines towards Linux distributions;
Configuration of modern Linux components as for instance Wayland, Systemd, Flatpack;
Development and testing using Python, Ansible and Shell;
Migrate build systems to newer technologies;
Automate build and deploy processes for CI/CD;
Documentation of the work results.
The development will be performed in a professional environment in close co-operation with experts from Germany (Stuttgart, Berlin) and Austria (Wien).
Professional competencies
Requested technical competencies:
Advanced Experiences with Linux command line, Packaging and file systems;
Experience in agile software development and tools;
Strong knowledge of UNIX based operating system;
Knowledge of Python and Shell Scripting;
Experience in software provisioning and automation using Ansible, Docker and Jenkins;
Good Knowledge of Ansible;
Experience in the area of security (e.g. CIS) are desired.
Would be a plus:
Knowledge of GNU Toolchain;
Networking experience;
Experience with software build systems (GNU Makefile, Maven or Gradle);
Experience with version control tools;
Knowledge of Jenkins Pipeline and Groovy;
Basic knowledge of Terraform, Puppet or Chef.
Education:
Technical study of Computer Science, Informatics, Mathematics, Electronics or similar).
Personal competencies
Intercultural communication, including the empathy to work in an international team;
Solution oriented while being open to embrace new technologies;
Very good cognitive aptitudes;
Interpersonal qualities (sociability, empathy, flexibility);
Self-management qualities (consciousness, tolerance);

Languages:
English;
German is a plus.
