Duties and Responsibilities:
1.    Responsible for generating innovative concepts and high level system architectures using existing and emerging technologies to meet user requirements and contribute to future product plans.
2.    To be involved in the generation, implementation and leadership of R & T projects that support the front-end systems architecture and product plans.   
3.    Responsible for developing and improving suitable processes to create efficiency and consistency in the future systems architecture process.   
4.    To be involved in the development of other Research & Technology team members to improve the overall systems engineering competence in the department.    
5.    To work with external R & T engineers in other Thales divisions or partner companies, to ensure that the widest possible knowledge base is applied to new concepts.    
6.    Responsible for communicating and influencing concepts within ADW and also with customers and external partners.
7.    To be involved in developing technology strategy and product policy as appropriate to emerging systems.
8.    To advise the Head – Research & Technology on issues related to future systems architecture trends, technologies and tools.

Candidate Requirements:

It is essential that the candidate can demonstrate competence in the following areas:

•    A good working knowledge of systems engineering processes, techniques and tools.
•    Working knowledge of system simulation, visualisation and assessment hardware and software tools and techniques relevant to OA and system effectiveness assessment.
•    A working knowledge of project management techniques and software tools
•    Proficiency in relevant technical disciplines and understanding of ADW commercial business processes, management disciplines and technical capabilities
•    A dynamic and flexible approach to embracing new processes

It is desirable that candidates can demonstrate a good understanding of weapon system design and/or a broad range of technologies used in weapons.

In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years. Some vacancies may require full Security Clearance which can require further evidence to be provided.
