What you’ll be doing -The Role
Thales delivers cutting-edge solutions to armed forces the world over. We are Europe’s number one supplier of defence electronics and a leading provider of integrated air defence systems. The Customer Support function provides Support and Services to our Customers that support the equipment we deliver to the Customer.
Customer Support activities include the provision and maintenance of technical publications include operating, logistical, failure diagnosis, preventative and corrective maintenance to aid the customer in the use of our products. A combination of text and Graphics obtained from engineering models and databases form the basis of the Technical Publications content; Spares & repairs management and coordination, the provision of Customer Training that includes the Training Needs Analysis, Training Course Design and Delivery; Technical Support including Field Support, inserting equipment technical upgrades.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to study for a technical communications/ engineering diploma/degree while gaining technical publications/ engineering experience working across arrange of projects and platforms.
- Design and production of technical publications from customer and international standards
- Technical Publications requirements analysis
- Training Design & Instruction
- Creating graphics/illustrations from CAD model and engineering data
- Applying and interpreting maintenance support policy from ILS Logistics support analysis
- Spares & Repairs Coordination
This opportunity is within the Land and Air Systems business in Belfast.
As a Customer Support trainee you will be studying towards a BEng (Hons) in Mechatronics at University of Ulster Jordanstown, following the Mechatronics pathway. For the duration of this 5 year programme you will combine university studies with practical application, working within our customer support function in Belfast. You will attend University of Ulster two half days a week over the course of each semester, with additional tuition provided through online delivery. At the end of the apprenticeship you be working as Technical Publications support within the Customer Support function.
Who we’re looking for
The successful candidate will:
- Display innovation and self-motivation;
- Exhibit good communication skills;
- Be able to work efficiently within a team, and individually;
- Be able to accommodate working in a high pressure environment;
- Demonstrate dedication and determination in assigned tasks
- Experience of Engineering
- Knowledge of Computer Graphical software
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
3 A Levels at grade B or above (predicted or obtained) with a minimum of 1 subject in Maths, Physics, Technology or ICT
